Rod and Alice

Uncle Rod and Aunt Alice came to visit us! We were so happy to see them. Rod is Curt's dad's brother. Alice made a beautiful sweater for Alyssa. We enjoy talking to them and listening to their interesting stories.

ロドおじさんとアリスおばさんが遊びにきてくれました！久しぶりに会えてうれしかった。ロドはカートの父の兄。アリスはアリッサのために素敵なカーディガンを編んでくれました。お話をしたり、彼らの面白いお話を聞いて楽しい時間をすごしました。

Alyssa, 7 months old

Finally I took Alyssa to get picture taken. She is such a smiley baby. We got a lot of great pictures. It is so hard to choose....

やっとアリッサの写真を撮りに行って来ました。この子はいつもにこにこしているのでたくさん良い写真が取れました。選ぶのに迷いますね・・・。

Alyssa is growing so fast. She is almost crawling, loves baby food and wants to pull herself to stand. She has 2 teeth now.

アリッサはどんどん大きくなっています。もうすぐハイハイをしそうです。離乳食も大好き。手を持ってあげて立ち上がるのが大好きです。歯は２本生えました。


Her height is 28 inches (90 percentile!) and the weight is17lbs. 10oz. (50 percentile).
身長７１ｃｍ、体重７９９５ｇ。大きな赤ちゃんです。

Friends came and visit from California! It was so much fun to be with them. We wish they live closer!!

お友達がカリフォルニアから遊びに来ました。もっと近くに住んでたらいいのにね！！ Alyssa enjoy visiting Wendy. アリッサはウェンディとおしゃべり。

Fair Oaks Dairy Farm

We enjoyed a day at this dairy Farm. There are kids play area, birthing barn, educational museum, gift shop and restaurant that sells dairy products that produced here.

この農場で一日すごしました。ここには子供の遊び場、牝牛のお産場、博物館、ギフトショップ、それからここでできた乳製品を売っているレストランがあります。Annika loves mini tractor for children. アニカは子供用のトラクターのおもちゃが大好き。

Train ride is so fun too. 電車も楽しいね。


This is the carousel that the cows are milked. 牛の搾乳をする円盤台。

Alyssa can't have milk yet. アリッサはまだ牛乳を飲めません。

Indianapolis Zoo

We took Grandma to Indy Zoo. We love to visit there. Today, we enjoy watching bears.

おばあちゃんをつれてインディアナポリス動物園にいきました。動物園にはよく来ます。今日は熊をみました。

Annika's First Swimming Lesson アニカ 初めての水泳教室

Annika and her best friend Jessie took swimming lessons.

アニカと仲良しのお友達ジェッシーは水泳を習いました。Annika was too scared to let go of the instructor but she was able to do breast stroke kick.

おっかなびっくり先生の手を離すことができませんでしたが、平泳ぎのキックだけはできました。Someday you will be able to swim. Let's work on this a little step out of time, Annika.

いつか泳げるようになるよ。少しずつがんばろうね、アニカ。

Blueberry Picking

We went to pick blueberries several times in May. It is easy to pick for the children because there are no thorns. It is a fun early summer activity.

５月にはブルーベリー狩りに何度も行きました。とげがないのでこどもでも簡単にとることができます。楽しい初夏の活動です。

Grandma visited this year just in time for blueberry season. So we took her to pick some blueberries too.

おばあちゃんがちょうどブルーベリーの季節に来たのでブルーベリー狩りに行きました。

We've Moved!! 引越ししました！！

We have moved a couple of miles east of where we have lived for 10 years. It is still the same town. The phone number does not change. The house is surrounded by grown trees. We can't wait untill we completely unpacked!

１０年住んだ家から約２マイルほど離れたところに引越ししました。同じ町なので電話番号も変わりません。この家は大きな木に囲まれています。早く引越しの荷物をほどくのを終わらせたいです。

We can't wait to see this beautiful iris in the front yard to bloom.
きれいなあやめが咲くのを見るのが待ち遠しいです。

Big sister, Annika アニカお姉ちゃん

Annika did very well to deal with big change in our family. She was pretending like a baby for a while after Alyssa was born.

アニカはこの家族の大きな変化によく対応したと思います。アリッサが生まれてしばらくの間は赤ちゃんがえりをしていました。

Annika was on the baby swing with a binky in her mouth. But she has never used binky and was putting opposite side in her mouth. (Alyssa was one month old.)

アニカはおしゃぶりを口に入れて赤ちゃん用のブランコに乗っているところ。でもおしゃぶりを使ったことがないので反対側を口に入れています。（アリッサはこのとき生後一ヶ月でした。）

Annika is on the baby bouncy seat. She put the seatbelt herself and mimiced Alyssa's cry and wanted us to come and pick her up like a baby. She loved it when we held her and rocked her like a baby.

アニカが赤ちゃん用のシートに座っているところ。自分でシートベルトをつけてアリッサの泣き声をまねして私たちに抱っこしてとよく甘えていました。私たちが抱っこして赤ちゃんのようにあやしてあげると喜んでました。



Sometimes she pretended to be a baby in Alyssa's bassinet.....
時にはアリッサのバシネットに寝転がって赤ちゃんのふりをしたり・・・・。


Annika likes Alyssa's carseat too.

アリッサのカーシートもアニカは大好き。


Oh yeah, she also insisted to wear a bib.
そうそう、よだれかけもつけたがりました。


But she slowly accepted her role as a big sister and actually enjoys it now.
でも少しずつお姉ちゃんとしての役割を受け入れて今ではアリッサのお姉ちゃんでいることが結構気に入っているようです。


Alyssa loves Annika and she can't stop smiling when she is around.
アリッサもアニカが大好きでアニカがそばに来ると笑顔がたえません。

Annika plays with Alyssa lately. She keeps saying "Alyssa is cute." We love to watch these beautiful daughters. (Of Course, we are extremely biased.)

アニカは最近アリッサとよく遊びます。「アリッサはかわいいねえ。」とよく言います。私たちはこのかわいい娘たちを見ているのが大好きです。（もちろん親ばかでとってもえこひいきな意見です。）

Alyssa has grown so fast. At her 4 months check-up, she was 90 percentile on her height and 75 percentile on her weight. (I think Annika was 25 percentie.)

アリッサはずいぶん大きくなりました。４ヶ月検診では身長が９０パーセンタイル、体重が７５パーセンタイルといわれました。とても重いです。(アニカはたしか２５パーセンタイル、小さめでした。） ユタから帰った日に下の前歯２本が出てきたのを発見しました。

Alyssa is 100 days old in this picture. It is a Japanese custom to celebrate first meal with solid food (Okuizome.) The parents just pretend to feed her and she does not actually start solid until 5 months old. The food shown in this picture is fish broth vegitable soup and sweet rice with red beans. The sweet rice with red beans are served for celebrations in Japan.

アリッサが生後１００日の時の写真です。日本の習慣のお食い初めをしました。両親が食べ物を食べさせるまねをするのですが実際に離乳食が始まるのは５ヶ月からです。この写真はお吸い物とお赤飯です。お赤飯は日本でお祝いのときに食べます。

She loves to watch people and gives everyone great smiles. So for those who lives far away and Alyssa can't personaly give this pretty smile, here you go.

アリッサは人を見ているのがすきで皆に素敵な笑顔を振りまきます。遠くに住んでいてアリッサが直接かわいい笑顔を見せられない人にこの写真の笑顔をどうぞ。

Brandon enjoyed holding Alyssa. Before this shot, Brandon told Sy "You got to take a picture of this!" We agree! They are so cute together.
ブランドンはアリッサを抱っこするのが好きです。ブランドンに「この写真は撮らなくっちゃ！」と言われて撮った写真です。そのとおりね。とてもかわいい写真になりました。

Fishing

Curt and Annika went fishing with Curt's brother Ryan and his son Brandon.

カートとアニカはカートの兄、ライアンと彼の息子ブランドンとつりに行きました。

This is Annika's first time fishing. She enjoyed very much.
